USW LOCAL 10-1 ENDORSES JOHN LINDER FOR STATE SENATE IN THE 9TH DISTRICT
Refinery Workers Seek End to Healthcare Gridlock in Harrisburg
On October 16, 2008, the membership of United Steelworkers Local 10-1 voted overwhelmingly to endorse John Linder for the 9th District of the Pennsylvania State Senate.
The members of USW Local 10-1 expressed grave concern over the partisan bickering in Harrisburg, led by State Senator Dominic Pileggi, which prevented Governor Rendell’s healthcare reform from even getting a vote in the State Senate.
“Working families in Pennsylvania deserve a government that serves their needs, not the same old partisan gridlock,” said USW Local 10-1 President Jim Savage. “While healthcare costs continue to spiral out of control and squeeze working family budgets, Senator Pileggi seems to take pride in being an obstructionist. The people of the 9th District deserve results, not partisan games.”
USW Local 10-1 represents over 700 workers at the Sunoco Philadelphia refinery.
